Here at Heyford Park School we warmly and enthusiastically encourage students on their personal reading journeys.
Engaging with the world of literature will support students in expanding their vocabulary, increasing their cultural capital and forming essential links when new knowledge is received. Underpinning this however, is their school fostering a space to discuss reading for pleasure – which can ignite a passion that lasts a lifetime.
We are thrilled to embark (as part of our Year 6 to 7 Heyford Transition) on a mystical journey together into The Young Magicians and the Thieves' Almanac by Nick Mohammed. Students will share in the reading, engage in preparatory lessons and complete a Secondary style Homework Menu that follows the text. To combine a love of reading with getting to know their new staff, teachers have enthusiastically shown of their reading prowess by recording chapters for our students to enjoy.
